Pumpkin Carving

We did some pumpkin carving last night with the Kunz's, which was a lot of fun. Grandma and Aunt Jenny kept Gavin occupied while Greg, I and Papa carved our pumpkins up! We tried to get Gavin to dig into the bowl of "pumpkin guts", but alas, he touched it and then pushed the bowl away and wiped his hand on Grandma's sweater. My son is going to end up like his Daddy and Mommy with regards to having our hands dirty! I may just get him his own little sanitation bottle.

Tomorrow is going to be a very big day for us, starting with going to have lunch with the Four Star crew in Boulder. Gavin will don his outfit for the first time and try not to sweat to death! I can't imagine he will last very long in it. We will then head home for a much needed nap to rest up for our hay rack ride around our 'hood! I think I am more excited than anyone about this! It should be a good time and Greg will finally get to meet some of the woman I have been hanging out with lately. Plus it will be nice to not have to walk our neighborhood! With our homes being on 1-3 acres it would get a little tiring after a block! Will post pics of the bean in his dino outfit as soon as I can!

On another note, Gavin had his 9 month check up yesterday. He did very well, has almost reached the 22 pound mark! We are so lucky he has been so healthy! HAPPY EARLY HALLOWEEN!
***UPDATE, I just realized why my little stinker would not take a nap this afternoon, he has his two front teeth coming in at the same time!

Happy 9 Month Birthday!

Gavin turns 9 months today. 9 months old, I cannot believe it! 9 months old going on the terrible twos! He is becoming very obstinate and vocal. A little more vocal than we like, especially when we are out to dinner. Which is very embarrassing for Greg and I! But oh well, I guess we are lucky that we have been able to take him out as much as we do. Maybe just take a break for a month!

Greg is on the western slope golfing with the guys, so we decided to have a slumber party! We spent yesterday and today with Grammy, Pyper, Jackson and Frankie. Grammy, Gavin and I were supposed to go to Boo at the Zoo yesterday, but after getting down there and not being able to turn into the zoo & seeing the line to get into the park. It was craziness! So we came back to our house, packed him in the stroller and walked to our local park and had a picnic there. Gavin decided to stand up on his own with no help from anything or anyone while we were there! He made it upright and stood there for a few seconds. I am still in a little shock.

We then spent the rest of the afternoon playing and decorating pumpkins with his cousins. The evening was spent sitting out by the fire, making s'mores and drinking hot cocoa. Well, ok, Grammy and I were drinking wine! We needed it! The slumber party we had went great, with the occasional hiccup. Like Frankie falling off the bed that she was not even supposed to be sleeping on, that girl is an escape artist! With 4 kids under the age of 4 1/2 in the house, I thought our sleep would not be great! What a surprise, they all slept till 7. We of course had to have a bubble bath this morning, Gavin wanted so badly to get into the tub with the kids- but just not big enough to handle his own yet!

Gavin then spent the early evening at Grandma and Papa's for some play and love time. I headed to the mall and did some retail therapy with Grammy! It was nice to get a little away time. When I picked him up, Grandma informed me that she saw his new "personality", or as I like to refer to it, his devil side! Not so cute now! Overall it was a wonderful weekend, filled with family and of course a lot of love. I think we are all very much wanting Greg to get home. Maybe now Crash will eat! Our sensitive dog.....

Welcome Oliver Thomas

Two very good friends of mine, Annie and Cara, just welcomed a new baby boy last Monday! Oliver Thomas Oberheide. Greg, Gavin and I went up to Longtuckey to meet the newest member of the Oberheide family. He was so adorable and little! I don't remember Gavin ever being that small. Well he wasn't! Oliver was 6 pounds, 15 ounces compared to Gavin at 8 pounds, 6 ounces! Annie and Cara have definitely taken to parenthood and we are so happy for them!

Gavin really didn't even care that we were holding another baby, I thought maybe he would be a little jealous! But of course he was too into the dog and cat!

Gavin has been of course his devilish self! We have tried to bump up his food to Stage 3, but he is not liking it so well. He is not really into the really chunky food. He is still loving his eggs and bananas though! He also has been a maniac on his push lion. Greg was amazed just how much he pushes that around without stopping or falling. He is pretty good and we are just waiting for him to take his first steps. Greg gives him a month. Greg is off for a guys weekend of golf this weekend, so we will be having a Mommy and Gavin bonding weekend. Oh yea, we are also having a slumber party (with the help of Grammy) with Pyper, Jackson and Frankie on Saturday night! We will be doing our yearly pumpkin decorating! Should be a fun time. With regards to the pictures, he always tries to steal my glasses, so I just popped them on him. With the Elvis picture Gavin decided to sit on his "lap", so of course we had to take a picture. The pictures of him with the lion, I know they are a little fuzzy. But he will not stand still when he is on that thing!

Debates, Dancing with the Stars & Driving me CRAZY!

Well I have sworn to Greg that I would keep this blog "political free", but we have both agreed that we are ready for this election to be over! Between all the ads, sheesh it is crazy. Colorado is a swing state so there is an ABUNDANCE of ads on both the radio and the television. Greg and I are different party affiliates so it has gotten sometimes heated around our house in our debates. But that is a good thing, means we are taking this election very seriously! I almost have him swayed to my "evil" side! That is all I will say about it.

On another note, one of my best friends Kathe (aka the Bunny) is in "Dancing with the Boulder Stars". She is representing my old company and am very jazzed to see her bust some moves! Plus I will get to see some old friends and co-workers! I am thinking she will be the WINNER!

Now onto the most important part of this blog. Gavin, aka the STINK POT, aka THE BOY WHO DOES NOT LISTEN AND LOVES TO ANTAGONIZE ME. This child of mine has become very obstinate in the past month or so. I cannot believe what a little stinker he can be sometimes! Right now he is trying to get around a barricade of mine to get to the wires and chew on them. Like he does not have enough toys or kitchenware to occupy him. As I am typing this he is now grabbing the monitor and pulling it backwards. It is fun trying to type when I can't see the screen! He is very cute though, makes me overlook his little devil side! It is funny, he rarely puts anything in his mouth while he is playing, yet the one thing he will chew on is Elvis' food bowl. DISGUSTING. Oh wait, he does love to put any cords in his mouth, especially the vacuum cord. But when he looks at you with that devilish smile and laughs, how can I really stay mad? I have attached some pics of last night. He took another shower with Daddy and then I decided that his hair needed a good spiking, which ended up with him looking like Jack Nicholson out of THE WITCHES OF EASTWICK.

Drama

Well yesterday was a very drama and emotional day! My little acrobat took a little flip off the changing table. I think I cried longer that he did, actually I know I did. I was a wreck. Luckily he landed flat on his back, didn't hit his head or land on an arm, etc. Long story short, after some overreacting from me (probably), the Dr. office told me to take him to the ER. All was fine, they didn't even take xrays. I should have known he was ok, as soon as we walked into the hospital and he saw Grammy he started laughing and squealing. Yes, sounds like a hurt kid!

Greg and I are off to Breckenridge tomorrow for a little more celebrating of my birthday! Gavin is staying home with Crash, Elvis and Grammy! And on another note, the chicken noodle soup was awesome!

My little Peanut Head!

Greg absolutely hates when I call Gavin peanut or peanut head. I really don't know why I call him that, I have a lot of nicknames for him. Bean when he was in the womb and for a bit right when he was born. I have called him Stink Pot or Stinker when he is being a turkey or about to do something that is a no no. It is funny, now Greg calls him a Stink Pot too! I don't think he ever thought he would say those words! Others have called him G Dog, Gav, Gavs, bubba, handsome, etc. I have always given nicknames to everyone, so I am really trying to get one that Greg isn't so opposed to! Like Greg's is Boo or My Boo. Elvis Hank is handsome, Crash is my pretty boy or "sensitive boy". My lovely nieces have them too! Pyper is "Punky Doodle", Frankie is "Wild Child" (we just don't say this in front of her Mom, I think Jen is not prepared for her wild ways! Like her Auntie!). Jackson, my nephew, is the "love". He loves to sit on your lap and love you. Ok, not always, but way more then his twin sister! I love to call my sister "Jackie Jr." But that is a whole different story!

Once again some pics of the peanut at the landing on the stairs, he just lovesssss the stairs. It is maddening. I love that the dogs are very into it also. Gavin's love for Elvis has not waned, but he is understanding "gentle". Normally he would just pull right on his face or tags, but he is doing a little better with that. Luckily Elvis could care less and lets Gavin do anything!

Of course I have added in some pics of him eating. He has ventured out of just eating baby food and rice and is now eating puffers, yogurt, eggs, bananas, broccoli and today tried a little bit of apple juice added to his water. Lately he has not wanted to drink any water, so thought if I added some juice to it he would drink it. Not so much. He is pretty picky, so back to the drawing board!

On another note, I am trying more and more to branch out my cooking! I just got done making a pot of homemade chicken noodle soup. Greg and I will test it out for lunch tomorrow- hopefully it is good!

Pumpkin Patch

Well this past Saturday was spent hitting Anderson Farms with the Kunz's! We had so much fun and Gavin loved it! He rode everything! From the barrels, to the hay ride and of course a pony. He got a big kick out of driving the tractor. He sat on that for about 10 minutes! He has a thing with steering wheels. We all had a great time and we will be heading back there in a few weeks with Mom and Jen. Gavin can spend a little more time loving on the animals!
